Soft skills are set of personal traits that enhance an individual’s interactions, job performance and career prospects and are best defined as a wide variety of people skills, employability skills, social skills, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, professional skills and business skills, which in turn deal with terms, associated with personality traits, such as: Assertive Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Communica- tion Skills, Personality Development, Motivation, Punctuality, Discipline, Time Management, Team building, Leadership Qualities, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Focus, Enthusiasm, Ethical behavior etc.

Each of the soft skills mentioned above can be applied to almost any position in nearly every company. One has to have soft skills to create opportunity for himself, especially when technical skills are similar to those of other people. It has been reported in almost all the leading news papers that lack of soft skills has ruined the chances of many college students in clearing campus placement interviews. In many cases, companies are selecting only few candidates in the campus interview, and rejecting others citing lack of soft skills, as one of the major reasons. Moreover, the companies now-a-days are reducing necessary money allocation in their budgets to train their newly recruited candidates. That is why it becomes crucial for students to improve themselves with career competencies during college days.
Most of the people in out nation are lacking good personality traits. That’s the reason why many untoward and most gruesome incidents are happening. Even some corporate. CEOs and MDs are practicing unethical standards due to lack of essential value skills embedded in them.
How can we learn and improve soft skills?
