An Assertive sentence is a statement. A statement is neither a question nor a
surprise or order. An assertive sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a full
stop.
Eg : English is a useful language
Latha is a teacher.
Practice makes a man perfect.
I am waiting for you.
2. Interrogative sentence :
An interrogative sentence is used for asking a question. In questions there is a
verb before the subject. An interrogative sentence always ends with a question mark.
Eg : Can you speak English ?
Are you waiting for anyone?
Whom do you want to meet?
Where do you want to go?
Where did you go yesterday?
Question words – What, Which, When, Why, Who, Whose, Whom, How.
Auxiliary verbs : is, am, are, was, were, have, has, had, do, does, did, can, could, may,
might, will, would, shall, should, must etc.
Imperative sentence :
An imperative sentence is used to express either a command (order) or a request. This is also used to express a piece of advice or suggestion. In imperative sentence subject ‘you’ is understand but not found in the sentence.
Eg : Do it. (order)
Please help me. (request)
Take care of your health. (advice)
Stay there. (order).
Exclamatory sentence :
This is used to express a sudden and strong feeling of surprise which may be
out of a deep shock or a great joy. There should be and exclamation mark (!) in the end
of the sentenc
